Brompton 1975 Limited Edition Folding Bike
The Gold Standard. A tribute to 50 years of innovation, excellence, and the people who make it possible. London, 1975. Andrew Ritchie, a brilliant young inventor, put pen to paper and sketched our original folding bike, calling it the ‘bike of the future.’ It was a radical departure from bicycles of the day, the first in a line of iconic designs which, today, represent the gold standard in folding bicycles.
Celebrating 50 Years Of Brompton Innovation
The 1975 Edition celebrates 50 years of innovation, excellence, and the people who make it possible. Each detail tells a chapter of our story. The Thermal Fade finish evokes the brazing process used by our team to produce bikes that last a lifetime. Each bike comes with one of 1,975 collectible ‘Brazer’s Coins’ as a tribute to our team’s talent and dedication. And there’s 50th anniversary gold wherever you look, because this is a moment to celebrate.
Brompton Frame Design
The signature thermal fade and gold highlights of the 1975 Edition reflect the colours that emerge around the bright gold joints of a Brompton frame in the minutes following brazing. In this transformational process, metals fuse and cool to form a structure that is strong enough to last a lifetime.
Each brazer’s work develops a distinct style over time, as unique as handwriting. We finish this bike with a robust, three-part, semi-transparent coloured lacquer, allowing every unique detail to shine through.
One of 1,975 Limited Edition Bromptons
The Brompton Brazer’s Coin is one of 1,975, made to celebrate everyone who has created our bikes over the last fifty years. There are 52 expert brazers in our London factory, handmaking every single Brompton. Each bike is marked by its maker. Each brass coin is embossed with one of our brazer’s initials. The material will naturally patina over time, making it as unique as your Brompton bike.
