Description
Endurance bikes have always been considered a little tamer - softer, more forgiving, less punishing than the drilled down, dialled in diet of the pro peloton. Well, the latest release from Cannondale sought to keep that comfort without skimping on stiffness, giving you the ability to make their new bike fit your ride, at whatever pace you want to take it. The Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod Disc Red eTap Road Bike 2018 brushing the ceiling in performance from this new range, you can be sure that this bike performs in almost every environment, at almost every distance.
Built around the redesigned, redeveloped, and revamped Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod frameset, this new iteration boasts a multitude of improvements over the former model, chief among which is the frame weight. Cutting down by a full 220 grams to offer a headline 950-gram weight, the Synapse 2018 is astonishingly light for an endurance bike, slimming down the gap between itself and the traditionally preferred weight weenie bikes of the pro-peloton.
This low weight delivered chiefly by means of Cannondale's Hi-Mod BallisTec Carbon Fibre, this bike and its composition provide you with a high-strength construction, further improved by the inclusion of an innovative Power Pyramid, seeing the seat tube divide into two and join the bottom bracket with an improved width, further improving torsional rigidity in this, the most critical structure for improving the effective power of your bike. Rigidity also improved by the asymmetrical offset in the bike, you can be sure that this bike allows you to transfer your power in an absolute sense, whilst still affording you a comfortable and quick ride.
This comfort built into the frame by means of Cannondale's SAVE technology, the Synapse retains engineered flex areas that absorb vibration and shock impacts from the road, meaning that you have less buzz to deal with in the saddle, making your riding experience far more comfortable, even on the roughest roads and paths.
Equipped with the world's most advanced electronic groupset, in SRAM RED eTap you can be assured of accurate, wireless and responsive gear shifting in a seamless package. Reduced wiring making for a cleaner line to this endurance bike, you can also benefit from SRAM's renowned HRD hydraulic road disc brakes, providing all condition braking in a modulated but powerful manner, to assure you of confidence on looser surfaces.
Rolling on Cannondale's HollowGram Si Disc wheels, this bike uses a 160mm centrelock rotor to offer impressive stopping force, whilst a rear cassette ranging from 11-32 teeth provides a broad depth of gearing, accompanying this bike's touting as a versatile endurance bike. With a tyre clearance of up to 32c as well as eyelets for mounting mudguards, this endurance bike is set for gravel as well as tarmac.
Extensively tested including at the Tour of Flanders by the pro-peloton, this bike has proven its ability at the highest level and assures the rider of a premium construction and a slick, smooth, and fast riding experience. No corners cut in the pursuit of absolute perfection, this bike is finished with Vittoria Corsa tyres at 28mm as standard, whilst a Fabric Scoop Shallow Pro Carbon Railled saddle ensures you that can ride longer, harder, faster, without discomfort ever creeping in.
