Colnago C64 Super Record EPS Road Bike (Sloping Geometry)
Renowned for their top quality construction, attention to detail and supreme ride, Colnago are celebrating their 64th year with the release of the C64. This Super Record EPS-equipped Road Bike with sloping geometry will ensure every ride puts a smile on your face, be it a challenging race or a relaxed weekend club run.
More than two years of research have gone into developing this frameset. The finest carbon fibre has been used, and although much of the design and shaping of the C60 has been retained, there are some changes that improve stiffness, handling, and comfort. The finish of the frame has also been updated from 3K carbon to a lighter UD (unidirectional) finish.
A fully redesigned fork improves comfort and stiffness thanks to the external rib shape and the inclusion of an internal rib in the steerer tube. With the fork now housing the pivots for the direct mount brakes, the tyre clearance has been improved allowing tyres up to 28mm wide to be used.
A new technology has allowed Colnago to reduce the thickness and weight of the headtube and, whilst the overall shape of the C60's headtube is retained, a small revision improves side stiffness. Thanks to the success of the Concept's headset technology, it now features on the C64. The upper cups have been revised and are now composed of carbon fibre, nylon, and elastomers, for increased absorption of road vibrations and reduced fatigue.
The lower portion of the downtube has been reduced in width to perfectly balance with the updated rear triangle. A recessed bottle cage area not only reduces drag over traditional mounting systems but also increases torsional stiffness as two ribs have been created in the middle of the downtube. If you want to run a mechanical setup, the cable stops have also been repositioned on the downtube, hidden from the wind.
One of the most dramatic updates from the C60 is in the seat tube area. The seat tube now meets the seat tube lug and forms a single piece, increasing the stiffness without affecting the weight. An integrated seat clamp offers perfect streamlining and a sleek look, and the co-moulded alloy has a single removable part that is tightened from below. The seat post has been based on the aerodynamic offering of the V2-R to improve vertical compliance.
Colnago's proven ThreadFit82.5 bottom bracket system now has a cable guide moulded to the lug for reduced weight and improved shifting performance. In a collaboration with Ceramic Speed, the new wider, threaded bottom bracket is complete with top-end bearings. The C64's dropouts are integrated with the chainstays for a one-piece construction, reducing weight, adding vertical compliance and retaining lateral stiffness. Now asymmetric, power transfer is improved so all your watts are translated into speed.
The stem has been designed specifically to complement the internal routing of the brake cable housing and both the stem and handlebar have a full carbon construction.
A full Italian build, this frameset has been kitted out with Campagnolo's Super Record EPS Groupset to offer precision shifting at just the push of a button. Campagnolo Bora Ultra 50 Wheels are stiff and aerodynamic, transferring all your power to the road, yet are comfortable enough for longer rides on rough roads.
