Pinarello Bolide TR+ Dura-Ace Di2 Disc TT/Triathlon Bike
The Pinarello Bolide TR+ Dura-Ace Di2 Disc TT/Triathlon Bike is undoubtedly one of the fastest triathlon bikes available thanks to the extensive wind tunnel testing that it has gone through. Based on the UCI compliant Bolide time trial bike, the Bolide TR+ didn’t need to adhere to the strict regulations placed on its sibling, and so could pursue pure, unfettered speed. The fork is much deeper than standard, and the Fork Flap also smoothes air around the brake and thru-axle area.
The frame itself, although based on the time trial Bolide, gets a unique geometry in order to better align with the needs of triathletes who may be riding for over 180km in some events. The longer headtube, lower bottom bracket and steep seat tube angle all promote speed and efficiency over the full distance by better enabling the rider to remain in a more aerodynamically efficient position for the duration of the race. To this end, the included top tube bento box is easily accessible for bars and gels, whilst both it and the separately available downtube toolbox actually increase the bike’s aerodynamic efficiency rather than hindering it.
Little needs to be said about Shimano’s top tier 11-speed electronic Dura-Ace Di2 hydraulic brake groupset save that it lives up to its reputation with near-instant, fingertip gear changes and powerful, easily modulated hydraulic braking. All cables run inside the frame and fork for the maximum aerodynamic benefit and a super clean look.
