The Santa Cruz Bronson Carbon CC X01 Reserve 27.5 Mountain Bike is versatility personified thanks to its multitalented performance. Its balanced character that shows heavy hints of not only agility but also stability results in the conquering of any trail, be it a rutted, rock-strewn descent or winding, technical singletrack. The keystone of the Bronson is undoubtedly the frame, and this is realised in Santa Cruz’s highest level of carbon to gift the responsiveness and strength upon which all of the other components can feed. The one-piece swingarm rear suspension unit is amalgamated with the main chassis via the VPP lower-link configuration to afford consistent mid-stroke support, accurate rear wheel tracking and a progressive shock rate. The result is an ultimately positive ride bursting with ultra-responsive handling, trail adhesion and pedalling efficiency.
The RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork then supplements the positive frame traits via its composed damping action which naturally instils confidence and enhanced trail accuracy into the ride experience. Despite already possessing a refined character, the ride sensation can be adapted in line with trail conditions and rider preferences via the discreet Flip Chip unit that is placed within the rear linkage. This component adjusts the bottom bracket height, shock rate and mid-stroke support to conceive an ultimately tailored ride. The 27.5-inch Reserve wheelset features a full carbon rim that is designed for strength and heavy impact resilience even when riding the fastest and nastiest of downhill tracks. Its 30mm wide internal rim width combines with the 2.5-inch and 2.4-inch tyres to yield precise handling regardless of trail severity, promoting inspiration and confidence within the rider.
A 12-speed cassette holds a gear ratio for any topography with these being selected by the adept SRAM X01 Eagle groupset. A carbon crankset and its partnering DUB axle promote efficient forward propulsion before a reliable hydraulic brake configuration awards modulated and powerful stopping regardless of conditions.
