Santa Cruz Megatower Carbon C S SDS Reserve 29" Mountain Bike 2020
The most resilient of trail bikes, the Santa Cruz Megatower Carbon C S SDS Reserve 29” Mountain Bike is a hardy off-road steed capable of handling any terrain thrust in its direction. Hardcore racers and dedicated enthusiasts alike will all benefit from the Megatowers 29-inch wheels, masses of travel and strong disposition.
The frame features a full carbon construction to promote natural levels of trail responsiveness, resilience and compliance. A VPP lower-link-mounted suspension system is then integrated neatly into the chassis design and, when combined with the 160mm of travel afforded by the rear shock, promotes ultimate levels of trail purchase and grip. This rear suspension concept is then supplemented by the FOX 36 Float Performance fork which facilitates irregular surface line selection via plush levels of cushioning.
A carefully considered geometry promotes versatile handling traits whatever the ground conditions but this can be refined via the integrated Flip Chips. These small, user alterable units are positioned in the rear linkage system and the rear dropouts to fine-tune the ride character based on the sub-genre of riding ahead.
The 29-inch wheels naturally afford the impression of rolling through, rather than over, obstacles but the Santa Cruz Reserve rims supplement this inborn quality. These rims amalgamate an advanced carbon construction and off-centre spoke drilling to increase impact resistance and strength. They are then partnered by the dependable, smooth-rolling DT Swiss 370 hubset to complete a hardy and robust wheel configuration.
A vast array of gear ratios are provided within the 12-speed cassette and this is actuated by the reliable and crisp clicks of the SRAM GX Eagle groupset. All of the riders effort is then translated directly into forward momentum by the stiff SRAM crank arms and the oversized DUB axle.
Braking is issued by a fully hydraulic set up with this delivering ultimately powerful but highly controllable stopping in any riding conditions. A RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper seatpost and Race Face bar and stem partnership then crown a comprehensive build sheet.
