Specialized S-Works Epic Hardtail AXS 29" Mountain Bike 2020
Specialized’s S-Works Epic Hardtail AXS 29" Mountain Bike has been designed to cover ground off-road as fast as possible and win XC races in the process. Specialized have of course made the bike super light, with a FACT 12m carbon frame that weighs just 790 grams, however, they have also realised that a fast bike needs to be forgiving as well in order to stave off fatigue and cope with increasingly technical race courses. Hence they have adopted some ideas from more trail orientated machines, with small diameter seatstays, bigger tyre clearance, 68.5 degree head tube, and long top tube/short stem setup. There is even a dropper-post friendly 30.9mm seat tube and the Rider-First design means that each frame size benefits from a unique carbon lay-up so that the ride quality is consistent across the sizes.
The RockShox SID Brain Ultimate fork provides 100mm travel up front for both increased traction and control, with top-adjust Brain Fade and a tapered carbon crown and steerer for the lowest possible weight. Light wheels are important when chasing the seconds, and the Roval Control SL carbon wheelset is certainly incredibly lightweight but doesn’t sacrifice the kind of stiffness that is vital for control and precise steering.
As befits its superbike status, the S-Works Epic Hardtail receives a state-of-the-art groupset in the form of SRAM’s XX1 Eagle AXS 12-speed drivetrain, which is fully wireless and very reliable. The AXS app can be connected to the shifters and derailleur in order to customise certain functions, including the ability to add in a compatible dropper seatpost so that it can also be controlled wirelessly from the handlebar.

Built, Checked, Tuned and Tested
All our bikes are fully built, checked, tuned and tested by our Cytech qualified mechanics and then securely packaged, ready for delivery. All you have to do is add the pedals (if included), attach the handlebars to the stem and tighten them following the included detailed instructions or by watching our video and using the provided FREE tools. All bikes collected from our shop, are built, tested and ready to ride. For hassle-free home delivery and bike set-up from a qualified mechanic use our Premier Delivery Service.
Please note, occasionally, manufacturers may change the specification without notice. Bicycles do not come with pedals unless otherwise specified. Bikes ordered for delivery will not arrive with the pedals installed, please refer to the owners manual and pedal installation guides provided for guidance. We do not install accessories to bikes, including mudguards. Bikes ordered for delivery that have tubeless compatible tyres and rims will arrive with inner tubes installed or with tubeless valves installed, this will be brand dependent. Sealant is available to be purchased separately.
