Thankfully Trek have opened up the SLR 8 road bike within the incredible Emonda range to those of us that prefer a little more comfort or are looking to ride longer distances by building this Trek Emonda SLR 8 H2 Road Bike 2016 to their H2 geometry. The entire Emonda range is incredibly light, even able to declare itself the lightest range of production road bikes ever. Just one step down from the very top model, this Trek Emonda SLR 8 H2 Road Bike 2016 is of superb quality thanks to its incredible specification.

One such piece of cutting-edge design is Trek's Ultralight 700 Series OCLV Carbon fibre. This has been net moulded to produce the most precise shapes with extremely tight tolerances. The best examples of this are the cupless BB90 bottom bracket, the widest available on a road bike, and head tube.

This E2 head tube system which tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing and is wider from side to side than it is from front to back. Being asymmetric it minimises weight and maximises power transfer keeping the fork stiffer under cornering loads.

The rider tuned seat-pin delivers the lightest and most comfortable daily performance. Using a no-cut design the traditional seatpost clamping forces are eliminated, meaning less material is used at the seat cable junction. This again adds to the frame's featherweight credentials.

Integrated Duo Trap S compatibility allows speed and cadence data to be sent seamlessly via bluetooth or ANT+ technology to your smartphone, bike computer or other compatible device. Integration is also continued for the front derailleur mount, carbon dropouts and water bottle bolts, which are all moulded into the frame to further reduce weight by shedding unnecessary material.

The 3S chain keeper keeps gear shifting seamless under heavy loads and rough surfaces. The chances of being stuck at the side of the road with a slipped chain is reduced significantly.

The H2 fit is a geometry that suits most riders. With a good balance between an all-out racing position and a more relaxed one. This makes the bike ideal for racing but also more than capable of racking up long miles on.

No thorough bread such as this Emonda SLR 8 would be complete without a version of Shimano's legendary Dura Ace 9000 11-speed groupset. Here this comes as the mechanical set up to allow you to service it at the road side in the highly unlikely scenario that you encounter any issues. The chances of this are next to none as Dura Ace is the highest quality possible and delivers exceptional durability as well as the incredibly light and precise gear shifting. Should this somehow not become enough for you, the performance cable routing means that you can seamlessly upgrade to an electronic set up, such as Di2 or EPS, whilst maintaining the superbly clean finish.

Trek have broken with the Ultegra theme though in order to save some more weight by directly mounting the Bontrager Speed Stop calipers straight to the frame. This eliminates some more surplus material as well as increasing the braking performance.

The American company Bontrager have adorned the bike with great quality parts. Their XXX Carbon Fibre Handlebar and Race X Lite stem completes the stunning looks, whilst the Bontrager Paradigm RXL saddle is a very comfortable but superbly lightweight option. Finished off with Bontrager Paradigm Tubeless Ready wheels and Bontrager R4 Hard-Case Lite tyres for a great all-round package. This is a fast, lightweight and exciting bike that you can destroy the opposition on.
