Cervelo Aspero GRX 1x Disc Gravel Bike 2020
Blurring the lines between road and gravel bikes, Cervélo’s Áspero GRX 1x Disc Gravel Bike borrows heavily from their long line of fast road bikes and is unashamedly aimed at those who wish to ride or race on gravel at speed rather than bikepackers. The carbon frame has aerodynamic features and road-racing power transfer, yet can accept 700x42mm or 650bx49mm tyres. The two-position Trail Mixer chip in the fork allows the geometry to be maintained whichever wheel size is being used so the handling remains consistent. The Easton EA70 AX 650b wheels and Vittoria Terreno Dry 47mm tyres are high volume enough for some serious comfort and traction but fast-rolling too so speed isn’t compromised. Shimano’s GRX 1x groupset keeps things simple, with one front ring and a wide-range 11-speed cassette whilst the gravel-specific rear derailleur uses a clutch style mechanism to ensure chain retention over rough ground. One very welcome finishing touch is the inclusion of the TransX Dropper seatpost, which allows the rider to drop the saddle by 50mm on steep descents for better control.
