Description
One of the most successful British riders of all time, David Millar also had a keen eye for style, design and performance. This is clearly visible in his CHPT3 1.1 Bib Short. This short has been designed in collaboration with Castelli for riders who don't like to cut any corners and who demand the best possible performance from their clothing.
The body of the short is constructed from high-density Lycra and features a one-piece engineered design. This helps to do away with any seam chafing while also giving the short a smooth and sleek finish. The high-density Lycra is the perfect build material for those riders who like to spend a lot of time in the saddle. The material helps to provide a light level of compression for your thigh muscles and helps to increase blood flow and reduce the build-up of lactic acid.
As a man who has spent some serious hours in the saddle over his 17-year career, Millar knows what to expect from exceptionally comfortable cycle wear. This factor is evident in the reinforced braces. With a wider surface area and a breathable mesh panel between the bib straps, these bibs avoid the cutting feeling of thinner straps while also letting heat and moisture escape.
One of the most important interfaces between man and bike, the Progetto X2 Air chamois in these shorts is designed to provide support and comfort for long and short rides. The pad is constructed from multi-density foam with infinite variables in thickness. This allows the pad to target areas where you need the most support. Perforated viscous padding is added under the highly sensitive ischial and perineum pressure areas. The pad is also highly breathable and moisture wicking with a fold-free ergonomic construction that forms to your body.
David Millar: "The chamois is the same tech as I used to race, only with a design in tribute to a good friend, Crispin Latymer, whom I introduced to cycling yet forgot to educate on the finer points of dressing. On his first ride he wore the shorts inside out, thinking it made total sense for the chamois to be in direct contact with the saddle. These shorts are designed for every day, all-weather use, just please, keep the chamois on the inside."
Textured leg grippers help to keep the short in place without pulling uncomfortably on your skin, and the understated reflective elements improve your visibility in low light conditions. The two subtle but dynamic colour schemes look superb as part of any riding kit, especially the other offering from Millar's CHPT3 range.
Please note that the sizing for this short is based on waist size however the shorts do come up small so we recommend trying a size larger than you would normally wear.
