The best winter bike just got better. This years Kinesis Racelight 4S frameset now comes in this option with mounts for disc brakes. This is not all, as there is also now internal cable routing and a brand new carbon fibre fork to ensure that this years bike maintains the award-winning reputation of Racelight 4S frames.

The addition of disc brakes to this frame is a highly logical progression. Racelight 4S frames have always stood out with their eyelets for mudguards, and clearance for 32 mm tyres, on a bike that still has the geometry and appearance of a performance road bike, thus making them the perfect all year round bikes. Disc brakes now mean these frames are even better suited to wet and muddy roads as they provide the most dependable all-weather braking.

Fantastically, though, you are not limited to disc brakes as this frame will also work with calliper brakes. Brilliantly, this opens up the possibility to run it with discs through the winter, then swap to rim brakes for summer racing. Thanks to the use of the new Shimano flat mount standard, the disc mounts are very minimal so when using calliper brakes there are no unsightly mounts.

Adaptability is further added to by the dropouts, which are adaptable between 130mm quick release and 135mm quick release by means of the Kinesis dropout adaptors.

Despite all of the new features, Kinesis have ensured that the basics are done superbly as well. The smooth welded Kinesium of the frame features a BSA threaded 68mm bottom bracket, so there is creaking or clicking issues that you might get with a press-fit option. This also seals a key area against the elements. Also, the tubing is butted and shaped to give a stiff front triangle for performance, whilst the rear is supple enough for rough roads and long rides thanks to the skinny curved stays.

The combination of disc brake mounts and internal routing for electronic groupsets means that this frame is ready for the future. Additionally, setting up with hydraulic disc brakes and internal electronic shifting would make this the best prepared and maintenance-free winter bike possible that is still ready to tear it up in summer with your improved fitness from all year riding.
