With disc brake compatibility and a wide, tubeless carbon rim, the Roval C 38 Disc Road Wheelset is a thoroughly modern set of wheels. Add in the DT Swiss 350 disc hubs and the DT Swiss Competition spokes and the complete picture is one of a versatile performance wheelset.

There is little doubt that wide rims offer a number of benefits over the older narrow style and with its 26.6mm width the C 38 Disc Road Wheelset from Roval is fully up to date with this trend. Wide rims offer a better interface with the tyre from an aerodynamic perspective and allow the tyre to expand further widthwise rather than being restricted by the rim. This wider profile is not only more stable than the ‘lightbulb’ shape necessitated by narrow rims but also makes the contact patch wider and shorter which actually decreases rolling resistance. These benefits are particularly noticeable when coupled with a tubeless system, and the C 38 Disc Road Wheelset is all ready to be set up in this fashion. The carbon rims are 38mm deep; enough to provide more aerodynamic benefits, but not so deep as to become weighty or a handful to control in crosswinds.

DT Swiss have been in business for 25 years, and their DT Swiss 350 Disc hub internals, DT Swiss Competition Race J-bend spokes and brass nipples add proven reliability to the core of this handbuilt wheelset. The hubs are bolt through standard, with 100x 12mm front and 142x12mm rear, in order to help keep everything stiff and secure when using the Centre-Lock disc brakes.
