Description

biknd Helium Bike Travel Case

Travelling with a bicycle has never been this simple. The biknd Helium Bike Travel Case is light, easy to carry and its revolutionary inflatable padding offers unrivalled protection. Thanks to its minimal dimensions, it fits easily in the boot of even the smallest cars.

No detail has been missed. The Helium bike case has special compartments for an extra wheelset and also for stowing your helmet, shoes and other essentials. Developed with the input of pro cyclists, whose lives involve frequent air travel with bikes, The Helium is simply the best bike case on the market today. The Helium case is light, offers unsurpassed protections against impacts and allows you to pack your bike with only minor disassembly and without changing the adjustment of its components.

Once you've packed your bike and accessories, you simply fill the case's innovative inflatable protection partitions. It's as easy a pumping up a tyre. A conveniently located opening on the side of the case allows easy access to the inflation valve. When you are done and ready to go, simply return the pump into the storage compartment, and hit the road.

The Helium can carry a road bike as large as a 64cm or a full-suspension freeride mountain bike. Lightweight, flexible, robust, easy to carry and handle, this case has all the qualities a traveller could wish for. Furthermore, packing a bike in an Helium case is quick and easy.

Features

Fabric

  • Outside: 900 denier nylon ballastic and 1200 denier polyester Oxford. The interior of the bag is made of resistant and easy washable 900 denier tarpauline fabric

Inflate

  • To inflate the air bags. Find the two inflation valves located inside the helium case, underneath the front handle

Anti-friction Devices

  • EVA padded stem cover to prevent it from damaging your frame during travel
  • EVA foam fork padding
  • Crank and chainstay cover made of 1200 denier Cordura fabric
  • Large nylon stripes padded with EVA foam to avoid friction between the bicycle wheels

Air Protection

  • The biggest innovation inside the Helium is its network of inflatable partitions, strategically positioned on either side of the frame
  • Air bag panel made of PVC covered with an non-abrasive nylon house
  • The air bag partitions are individually fixed with velcro straps thus making cleaning and maintenance a breeze
  • The air bag partitions offer more stability and protection, at a lower weight, than other systems

F.A.Q.

Q: Is there a risk that the low pressures of an airplane baggage compartment will cause the Helium’s air bags to burst?

A: No. The airbags never reach a very high pressure because of their large volume. Just like bicycle tyres will not blow up during air travel, the inflatable walls inside the Helium bike case will easily be able to withstand pressure fluctuations.

Q: How would you fit aerobars (for time trial/triathlon bikes)

A: TT bars fixed on ''bull horn'' type handlebars, you remove the handlebar as shown on the packing instruction and you place them parallel to the frame. We suggest to cover up the TT bar with some padding. Some model of TT bar extention may require removal.

Q: Can you fit 15mm and 20mm front axles to the fork mount? Also 142, 150, 160mm rear axles?

A: Yes you can but you need to purchase an adapter. Thule and Yakima do them. For the rear you can just slide out the QR and replace with thru axle.

Q: How do MTBs fit in the bag, DH bikes for example?

A: Depending upon the size of the bike you may have to decompress and reverse the fork. The case isn't ideal to fit a DH bike, however a trick is to swap the fork for an old road fork where you lay the suspension on the base of the case.

Q: The area around rear mech hanger looks a little vulnerable? The area where seatpost is looks vulnerable.

A: Once the case is closed this area is protected by the air bag. This is the same for the top tube. The air bags are higher than the top of the bike, the straps on the outside are used to close the airbags around the frame. Its look vulnerable however never has a bike damaged during transport.
