Carbon frames require extra care when clamped as excessive jaw pressure on carbon tubes can cause internal delamination that isn't visible externally but compromises structural integrity. If you're working on a carbon-framed bike, either:

• Use a stand with a thru-axle clamp adapter (clamps at the axle dropout rather than the frame)
• Use a frame protection sleeve inside the clamp jaw
• Clamp at the seat post if it's aluminium, not the frame itself
